Angeles National Forest Trail Race Trail Work Program:
The Angeles National Forest Trail Race is an approved USDA Forest Service Region 5 Angeles National Forest trail maintenance group. Trail restoration, trail maintenance, and trailhead/station area improvement/maintenance projects are charities of The Angeles National Forest Trail Race:
- Restoration and maintenance of the USFS trail network
- Providing volunteer opportunities for Los Angeles area residents
- Painting, masonry, repair tables, rails, signs, structures, parking area clean-up, Sutter walls
- Assisting other volunteer groups with their projects
- Providing projects and hands-on help for scouting troops

- Carpool to Trail Work at Idlehour Trail East Side (We need High Clearance Vehicles to transport Volunteers).
- We will drive up Mt. Wilson Toll Road, to Idlehour Aid Station / Checkpoint

General Procedure for Trailwork Days:
- Contact Gary Hilliard for Trailwork RSVP and confirmation > garyh@anftrailrace.com
- Sign in and provide address and emergency phone number for Trailwork Days
- We have a Pre-Trailwork Safety Meeting.
- Purchase and display your USFS Adventure Pass. Required when parking in the Angeles National Forest.
- $5 a day/$30 a year Adventure passes available at REI Stores, USFS locations, most La Canada / Pasadena sports stores and some gas stations near the Forest and Wrightwood stores.
Things to bring and expect for trail work:
- Wear long pants and a long-sleeve shirt (dress for temps 35 degrees to 80 degrees) ...bring gloves.
- Boots or Trail shoes (No Sandals, flip-flops, deck shoes, etc.).
- Food & water (enough for a full day's hike/work) ...and be mobile.
- Use of small backpacks or hydration packs works best.
- Carrying lunch boxes, coolers, or bags of food and supplies is not recommended.
- Personal items (as-needed): Sunscreen, bug repellant, first-aid, insect medication.
- Bring Energy and positive attitude... "OUR FOREST" needs our help to care for it.
Carpool Option > meets at 6:15 am at:
Mt. Disappointment trail work volunteers can once again gather at the original meeting place alongside Highway 2 in La Canada Flintridge.
Directions:
From the 210 Freeway exit at Angeles Crest Hwy (CA-2) and go North 0.1 miles.
Pull into the frontage road on the East side (right side) of Hwy 2 and park facing South, away from the residences.
You MUST e-mail Gary during the week before the trail-work day so we have enough tools.
